Part 3

Rinsing — one protocol, from 24 hours on

Dr. Charles’ protocol
  • First 24 hours: no rinsing or swishing at all.
  • After 24 hours: begin your chlorhexidine protocol — brush first, then swish 15 ml (one capful) for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 90 days.
  • After the first 90 days: maintenance — twice daily for 30 seconds, then spit out.
  • Optional, for comfort — especially after meals — a gentle warm saltwater rinse (½ tsp salt + ½ tsp baking soda in 8 oz warm water). The saltwater is optional; the chlorhexidine protocol is the required one.

Please note: routine dental implants are not a Medicaid or Medicare benefit and are primarily paid out-of-pocket or through third-party financing. If you have a credit score below 650, no co-signer, and require financing, we likely cannot help. Tooth loss with a medical cause may be different — see our medical insurance page.
