Your medications after surgery

A small amount of opioid pain relief is prescribed in some situations — use it with caution to avoid dependence.

Pain — as needed

  • One tablet every 4–6 hours as needed for pain.
  • No more than 4 tablets a day.
Infection prevention

Amoxicillin 500 mg

  • One tablet every 8 hours until finished.
  • Your alternative antibiotic follows its own directions if you’re allergic.
Inflammation

Motrin / Ibuprofen 800 mg

  • One tablet every 4–6 hours as needed.
  • Stay on it for 2–3 days to keep inflammation down.

Please note: routine dental implants are not a Medicaid or Medicare benefit and are primarily paid out-of-pocket or through third-party financing. If you have a credit score below 650, no co-signer, and require financing, we likely cannot help. Tooth loss with a medical cause may be different — see our medical insurance page.
