More than a dentist

A specialist for the mouth others find difficult.

Dr. Germain Jean-Charles is an Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologist whose entire focus is rebuilding the full mouth with dental implants. That means training in the biology and pathology beneath restorative dentistry — the foundation durable implant work is built on — and a practice centered on the complex cases, including significant bone loss.

Our cornerstone

Same-day teeth — leave with a fixed smile

For all but rare cases, you walk out on the day of surgery with a fixed, non-removable set of teeth. No going without, no denture in a cup.

Honest about how it works: what’s placed same-day is a fixed provisional. Your permanent, custom final restoration is placed after your implants heal and fully integrate with the bone — typically over the following months.

How same-day works

Is same-day right for me?

Most full-arch patients are candidates. A small number of situations — certain infections or bone conditions — call for a staged approach instead. A 3D scan at your consultation settles it.

The path

How it works — three steps

  1. Tell us about your situation Take the one-minute candidacy quiz (or call). It tells us what you’re dealing with so we can prepare the right options before you ever walk through the door.
  2. Talk it through, then come in for imaging A member of our patient care team calls you to discuss your options and answer your questions — no pressure. When you’re ready, we schedule your consultation with 3D imaging and you leave it with a clear, itemized treatment plan.
  3. Treatment day For full-arch cases, Dr. Jean-Charles places your implants and attaches a fixed provisional set of teeth in one visit — you go home the same day with a fixed smile, and your permanent restoration follows after healing.

Questions, answered

Common questions

Who performs the implant treatment at New York Dental Implants?
Treatment is led by Dr. Germain Jean-Charles — an Oral & Maxillofacial Pathologist, Fellow of the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Pathology, and Assistant Professor at the University of Rochester’s Eastman Institute for Oral Health. His focus is complex, full-mouth implant rehabilitation.
What are dental implants?
A dental implant is a titanium post placed in the jawbone to act as an artificial tooth root. Once it integrates with the bone, it supports a replacement tooth — a crown, a bridge, or a full arch of fixed teeth. Because the implant stimulates the bone the way a natural root does, it also helps prevent the bone loss that follows a missing tooth.
Do you really place teeth in a single day?
On the day of surgery you leave with a fixed, non-removable set of provisional teeth — not a temporary you take in and out. Your permanent, custom-crafted final restoration is placed after your implants have healed and fully integrated with the bone, typically over the following months.
I’ve been told I don’t have enough bone for implants. Can you help?
Often, yes. Modern angled full-arch techniques use the bone you already have, and Dr. Jean-Charles focuses specifically on complex cases — including patients with significant bone loss who’ve been turned away elsewhere. A 3D scan at your consultation is the only way to know for certain.
Is the treatment painful?
Implant surgery is performed under local anesthesia, and IV sedation is available so most patients are comfortable throughout the procedure. Some swelling and soreness in the first few days is normal and is typically manageable with the aftercare plan we send you home with.
How long does the implant process take from start to finish?
It depends on the treatment. For full-arch cases, a fixed provisional is typically placed the same day as surgery, and the permanent restoration follows once the implants have integrated — usually over the following months. For a single tooth, placement is one visit and the final crown is fitted after roughly 3–6 months of healing.
How long do dental implants last?
Implants are designed as a long-term solution — with good home care and regular hygiene visits, they can serve for decades. The restoration on top (crown or bridge) may need maintenance or replacement over the years, which is normal wear.
Will I be able to eat normally?
That’s the goal — and for most patients the most life-changing part. Once your permanent restoration is in place, fixed implant teeth restore chewing function that dentures can’t match. During the healing months you’ll follow a softer diet while the implants integrate.
Where are you located and what areas do you serve?
Our office is at 344 N Main Street, Canandaigua, NY 14424. We serve patients across the Finger Lakes and Western New York, including Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse.
Is financing available?
Yes. Every patient’s situation is different, so we help you find the best path to pay for treatment — from your own resources and third-party healthcare lending to, where appropriate, in-house options such as our SmileFund program. We walk through the choices with you at consultation.
Is there a warranty on the implants?
Yes — every full-arch treatment includes a three-year warranty that begins on your surgery date. If you prefer not to have it, you can decline it at your consultation and your treatment price is adjusted accordingly. For other implant treatments, we discuss warranty options at your consultation.

Please note: routine dental implants are not a Medicaid or Medicare benefit and are primarily paid out-of-pocket or through third-party financing. If you have a credit score below 650, no co-signer, and require financing, we likely cannot help. Tooth loss with a medical cause may be different — see our medical insurance page.
